Map & Directions To Recycling Center
In a recent
Zionsville Times Sentinel advertisement (which you can see and download on
our SPECIALS
page) we talked about how we recycle
everything possible and how there's a great, free recycling center out
west of town. To help everyone find the place, here's a link to the
MSN website's map and directions. (We made the starting point our
restaurant at 70 E. Hawthorne Street just for reference.) We
encourage everyone to take advantage of this awesome free resource to help
keep our community and planet clean and green! To visit the map and
directions,

Accepting Applications
We're accepting
applications from sharp people who can work inside and can deliver pizzas.
We have a shift manager position available and also have a position for
someone to come in during the day to prep our ingredients for that night's
shift.
You must be 18 years of age, have a clean driving record, have reliable
and presentable transportation and be able to provide good, personable
customer service. References are required. ZPD is a nonsmoking
workplace. If you'd like to apply, send us an e-mail via the link at
the bottom of the page or by calling us. You can download an
employment application
here in PDF format, then drop it by
our restaurant after you fill it out. You can also mail it to us at
70 E. Hawthorne Street, Zionsville IN 46077.
• Revised Hours Of
Operation
Our customers have
spoken...and they've told us that they prefer to order their ZPD pizzas at
dinnertime (versus earlier in the day or too much later). As such, we've revised our
hours of operation to: Sunday-Thursday 5pm to 9pm; Friday-Saturday
5pm to 10pm. If we begin to get requests for earlier or later hours,
we'll certainly consider implementing them.

We're Back...And In A Big Way
We reopened for
business on Friday, March 2nd, exactly one month after our founder's
untimely passing. Business has been great and we're breaking sales records
that have stood for many years.
Customer response and support during this challenging time of transition
have been nothing short of phenomenal, and we really appreciate the
heartfelt sentiments the community's been sharing with us. It's
obvious that Dad had a lot of friends in Zionsville. We look forward
to continuing those friendships!
• Noteworthy Customer
Comments
An unsolicited
comment from a customer 3-23-07: "I've had pizza all around the
world and can tell you from experience that there's not another pizza this
good anywhere. That's why we order more than once a week. This
pizza is phenomenal." The best part? The customer wasn't
directing the comment to us; he was directing it to three other customers
in our pick-up area. They had mentioned that they hadn't
ordered from us before, but had been drawn in by our recent
advertisements, and our longstanding customer felt compelled to tell them
they'd made the right choice. Gratifying to us? You betcha!

Customer Quotes page.
• Now Accepting Credit
Cards
We now accept Visa,
MasterCard and Discover. Soon our delivery
personnel will be able to process your card wirelessly when they arrive at
your door with your ZPD pizza, too. Dad was always opposed to
accepting credit cards for some reason, so now he's either, in the words
of one customer, proud...or turning over in his grave. :-)
• Now Featuring Breadsticks...And
They're GREAT
For years customers
have requested breadsticks, but we couldn't talk Dad into offering them.
Now we have them...and they're really, really good. We baste our
sticks with a bit of extra virgin olive oil, them gently bake them 'til
they're golden brown but not overdone. We then re-baste them with
our own blend of melted butter and hand-pressed garlic and finish them off
with a dusting of Romano & Pecorino (fancier than Parmesan) cheeses. Try 'em once and
you'll be asking for them every time you get a pizza! An order
contains 4 breadsticks and your choice of cheese sauce or our signature
pizza sauce for dipping. They're a bit of a naughty indulgence, but
they're oh so good. Try some today! Click the picture to see a
larger version. (The 'sticks are being basted with garlic & butter,
then will be sprinkled with imported cheeses.) Sorry...the picture isn't scratch-&-sniff.
• Study About The Effects
Of Extra Virgin Olive Oil On Ulcers
A recent study
suggests that extra virgin olive oil may kill the bacterium that is now
accepted to be the cause of stomach ulcers. To read more about the
study, visit the website of Swanson Vitamins, which is one of our favorite
sources for vitamins and supplements. (No, they didn't pay us to say
that.)
Click here to read the article.
We use extra virgin olive oil in our recipes 'cause it's good and good for
you!
• Additional Crust And
Toppings: Opinions Needed
We're considering
offering a thin crust in addition to our signature hand-rolled crust.
If this is something you'd be interested in, please let us know.
We're also interested in your opinion about additional toppings such as
fresh basil, broccoli, etc. We'll probably have samples of the thin
crust available at the front counter so you can try a little to see what
you think. To submit your "vote," please send us an
e-mail. We appreciate your
input.
• We'll Baste Your Crust
With Butter & Garlic If You Like
We've always
brushed our crust with our own oil blend, but now you can also request
that we instead baste your crust with our butter & hand-pressed garlic
blend. No additional charge. Just ask!
• We Now
Recycle
A big change we're
making is that we're now recycling all our cardboard, plastic, glass,
paper and metal. This takes extra effort and expense on our part,
but we wouldn't have it any other way. Sorry, Dad, but we cringe to
think of all the stuff that got thrown away and could have been recycled.
(See link at top of page for a map and directions to the recycling center
west of Zionsville.)
•
Smoke-Free ZPD
Another change
we're making is that we're now a non-smoking facility. Smoking
contributed to our founder's demise (he smoked as much as 2+ packs a day),
and we don't want the same thing to happen to any of us...or you. We
strongly support Smoke Free Indy, which you can learn more about at
www.smokefreeindy.com. In Dad's obituary we
suggested that donations be made to Smoke Free Indy in his memory. Please help support
Smoke Free Indy if you can. Dad would appreciate it.
•
Kitty-less ZPD
Mickey, the former
"pizza cat" who hung around the restaurant, is now living with us in our
private animal rescue facility at our home. She's had all the vet
care she needed and is again getting to be buddies with her mom, Minnie,
and Jake, who are also living with us now. We're the founders of two
federally-licensed animal charities, operated a nonprofit spay/neuter
clinic and even lectured at a veterinary conference at the Purdue Vet
School, so you know we're big animal lovers. But we feel that cats
belong at home...not at ZPD.
Dad had also
been feeding a couple feral (wild, not friendly to people) cats on the
front porch, too, but we have found that the cat food was attracting too
much nuisance wildlife, and we found out that the flower shop across the
street is providing the kitties food, shelter and a litter box anyway, so
we've removed the feral cat houses and feeding station from the front
porch. If we see the cats at their usual feeding time of 9:15pm,
we'll still put down a little dish of food for them, but then we'll take
it up when they've finished eating.
Dad left
behind three cats: Jake, Minnie and Mickey. They're available
for adoption and you can read more about them at
http://www.doodoovoodoo.com/pets_available.htm.
They're missing their dad and could really use a break, so please give
them your strongest consideration.
• Your
Opinion Counts
It is not our
intention to reopen Zionsville Pizza Delivery and change anything that
contributed to its success for the last 20+ years, but we do want to make
it all that you want it to be. If you have comments for us about
adding toppings we've not been offering or other changes you think would
be helpful to ZPD, please e-mail us via the link at the bottom of the
page. Thanks for your input.
